How we verify installers
Last updated October 22, 2026
Every installer we list has a California contractor license we looked up ourselves on the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) public lookup. A badge on a listing means we did that check on the date shown, nothing more.
What we check
- License status: the license is listed as Active on CSLB.
- License class: the license includes class C-10 (Electrical), the class for electrical work like a 240V charger circuit.
- Expiry date: the license isn't expired on the day we check, and we record the expiry date.
- Name match: the business name on CSLB matches the company listed (we show the CSLB legal name when it differs).
Sources
- CSLB Check a License: enter the license number shown on the listing to see the live record.
- Service areas and phone numbers come from each installer's own website, linked on their listing.
How often we recheck
Each listing shows the date we last checked it. We recheck every listing monthly. Licenses can change between checks, so look up the live CSLB record before you hire.
Listings aren't paid
Installers can't pay to be listed, to get a badge, or to change their order. Rankings are never paid. Some links on the site may be affiliate links; we may earn a commission at no cost to you.
What we don't check
- Workmanship, reviews, prices, or how quickly an installer responds.
- Bonds, workers' comp, or liability insurance (CSLB shows bond and workers' comp status; check it yourself).
- Whether an installer serves your exact address. Call to confirm before booking.
- Whether your job will pull a permit. Ask every installer if the permit is included.
